In our organization, we have a large number of My Drives and Shared Drives, most of which we want to allow the Google Drive connector to index. However, we have a few that should not be indexed at all. Maintaining an allowed list would create more work and pose greater challenges in the process than having a blocklist that would inform the Google Drive connector what it should not access.

What you would like to accomplish:

• The goal is to control which Google My Drives and Shared Drives are indexed by the Google Drive connector.
• The focus is on preventing certain My Drives and Shared Drives from being indexed, while allowing the majority to be indexed.

How this might work:

• The proposed solution is to use a "blocklist" (or deny list).
• This blocklist would list the specific My Drives and Shared Drives that the Google Drive connector should not access or index.
• The connector would be configured to check this blocklist and exclude the listed drives from indexing.

If applicable, reasons why alternative solutions are not sufficient:

An "allowed list" is considered less desirable as an alternative solution. The reasons:

• Increased workload: Creating and maintaining an allowed list for the large number of drives would be more effort than a blocklist for a small number of exclusions.
• Greater challenges: Managing an allowed list would be more complex and prone to problems in this situation.
