I apologize for not having a screenshot of the specific ping error.
However, I have attached a screenshot of the terminal app taken after
attempting to flush the IP settings. After doing that the terminal could
not even connect.
Would it be helpful if I recreated the error and captured a screenshot of
that?
Please let me know if this would be useful for your investigation.
Unfortunately, as I mentioned previously, I am unable to test the issue
using Wi-Fi as mobile data is my only internet connection.
Thanks,
Kevin

This is a screenshot showing that I can ping my gateway. But attempting to ping Google's DNS server. I know you want me to try using wifi, but I only have mobile data at my location and I cannot leave.

I turned off the vpns and redid the IP a and ping commands. Same result. I still have my VPN off at this moment. I see the interface for the terminal is updated with the March beta, but I still can't connect to any IP addresses through terminal beyond the gateway.

Description

User experience
What type of Android issue is this?
Other issue
What steps would let us observe this issue?
I am experiencing an issue with internet connectivity within the new Debian Linux Terminal app on my Pixel 9 Pro running Android 15 "Baklava". I am using a Verizon mobile data connection.
Device Information:
* Device: Pixel 9 Pro
* Android Version: Baklava (Android 15)
* Android Security Update: February 5, 2025
* Google Play system update: April 1, 2025
* Build number: BP22.250124.010
Problem Description:
When I launch the Terminal app and start the Debian environment, I am unable to access the internet. Specifically:
* I can successfully ping the gateway IP address (10.131.48.217), indicating local network connectivity within the VM.
* However, I cannot ping external IP addresses (e.g., 8.8.8.8) and DNS resolution fails (e.g., ping google.com does not work).
* This issue occurs when using mobile data (Verizon). I have not tested with Wi-Fi.
* My Android device itself has a working internet connection via mobile data - I can browse the web and use other apps normally on Android.
Troubleshooting Steps Already Taken:
I have performed the following troubleshooting steps without success:
* Verified that internet Browse works correctly on the Android host device itself.
* Checked the IP address of the Debian VM using ip a. It receives an IP address in the 10.131.48.x range (e.g., 10.131.48.67).
* Checked the routing table using ip route show. A default route to the gateway (10.131.48.217) is present.
* Checked iptables -L. The firewall rules are at the default ACCEPT policy, and no blocking rules are present.
* Set manual DNS servers in /etc/resolv.conf to Google Public DNS (nameserver 8.8.8.8 and nameserver 8.8.4.4) and added search google.com.
* Experimented with the "Port control" settings in the Terminal app, adding ports 1024, 4096, 8192, 16384, 32768, and 65535 to "Saved allowed ports". Note: "Port control" does not allow ports below 1024.
* Disabled all VPN and Firewall applications on my Pixel 9 Pro.
* Restarted my Pixel 9 Pro device multiple times.
* Toggled the "Linux development environment" feature off and on in Developer Options.
* Confirmed I am using the default APN settings for Verizon mobile data.
"Linux development environment" and "Port control" Settings:
* In Android Settings -> System -> Developer options -> Linux development environment, there is only a toggle switch to enable/disable the feature. There are no other network configuration options visible in this main settings panel. (Screenshot attached: "Linux_Dev_Env_Settings.png")
* Within the Terminal app's settings, there is a "Port control" option under "Listening ports". "Port control" -> "Saved allowed ports" allows adding ports, but only for port numbers greater than 1023. I have tried adding a range of higher ports. (Screenshot attached: "Terminal_Port_Control_Settings.png")
Request:
Please investigate this internet connectivity issue with the Debian Linux Terminal app on Pixel 9 Pro running Android 15 "Baklava" when using mobile data. It appears there may be a problem with network routing or NAT for the Debian VM in this configuration.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
What did you expect to happen?
I expected the terminal to have connectivity.
What actually happened?
It did not connect.
What was the effect of this issue on your device usage, such as lost time or work?
Slight
Additional comments
Nothing I did worked to try to get the Linux development environment to connect. Termux connects just fine.
