Description

I want to connect a usb device (Yubikey specifically, but not that relevant, any device seems to have the same behavior, tried with a usb game pad and a camera) to the XR emulator to test out it's functionalities with my existing hardware.

Hardware used

• MacOS
• Android XR Emulator
• any usb device

Steps to reproduce

1. verify attached usb device to mac

might need install of lsusb through brew or other means

lsusb | grep -i yubi
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1050:0407 1050 YubiKey OTP+FIDO+CCID 

2. create xr emulator through Android Studio

followed https://developer.android.com/develop/xr/jetpack-xr-sdk/setup

3. start emulator "by-hand" with usb-passthrough options

cd ~/Library/Android/sdk/emulator
./emulator -avd XR_Device -no-snapshot -usb-passthrough bus=usb-bus.0,hostbus=2,hostport=1  

4. Observe line in output (more attached as xremu-log-passthrough)

5. verify within XR emulator with

requires termux and termux-api installed

open termux and enter

termux-usb -l
[]

6. expected outcome

termux-usb -l
[
  "/dev/bus/usb/002/002"    
]

I.e. the device should have been passed through.

7. by adding qemu options directly, it shows up in the logs:

./emulator -avd XR_Device -no-snapshot -usb-passthrough 'vendorid=0x1050,productid=0407' -qemu -usb -device usb-host,vendorid=0x1050,productid=0407

produces

attached as xremu-log-and-qemu.

But again, not showing up in the emulated Android OS.
