I was hopeful that the release of API 18 (4.3) would have created a solution to this, unfortunately it includes version 3158130
Description
Steps to reproduce the problem:
1.With only one tab remaining open, click the "x" on that tab.
2.Entire Chromium browser platform closes.
What is the expected behavior?
Chromium should remain open, with a blank (or default) tab as the sole tab.
What went wrong?
This issue was last identified as a bug almost 5 years ago. At the time, in several bug reports, they were all closed as "will not fix".
Since that time, the browser has become (is in fact) a major platform from which other apps, websites, etc are launched.
Just like in any other OS, when you close an app within it, you do not expect the OS to shutdown.
It IS expected that when clicking the X on the min Chromium window, chromium should close.
It is NOT expected that when clicking the X on a tab within chromium, that not only the tab, but also the underlying platform (chromium) also terminates.
This is inconsistent UI behaviour, and should not continue to be ignored as it was by devs 5 years ago.
Firefox provides the expected functionality.
Chromium should also.
Please reconsider a fix to make this naturally expected functionality a reality.
To be clear, upon clicking the X in the last tab WITHIN chromium, the user expects chromium to remain open, with a blank (or other suitable default tab) present.
(and to be very wishful, to also have the cursor be placed in the address bar)
Did this work before? No
Chrome version: 80.0.3987.87 Channel: stable
OS Version: 6.3
Flash Version:
The current behavior is more than an annoyance, it doesn't make sense from a UI perspective.
