I was hopeful that the release of API 18 (4.3) would have created a solution to this, unfortunately it includes version 3158130

KaTeX formulae are also broken and sometimes completely unreadable. For example, the page

*IMPORTANT* This problem also affects paged views, e.g., when printing. This means the ruby/formula might be placed in the previous page or disappear.
It seems to be related to 631314, but that one was too old/cold and does not refer to pages or KaTeX formulae.
While I don't have a bunch of browsers at hand, Edge (Legacy) and IE 11 render the ruby page correctly at all sizes.
