I have a professionally made every-day HTML signature, with my photo, name, profession, address linked to google maps, a link to call my telephone and links to linkedin, facebook, twitter etc, with logo images. I don't want to download a different email app or go to gmail with the mobile browser in desktop mode to have HTML signatures. The Gmail app itself needs to be able to handle HTML sigs. Please update.

We know the app supports the html formatting - because you've already done that.
If the web-based app supports HTML signatures, how hard can it be to check for the specified signature in the web browser app configuration of someone's account, and then import that HTML into the new email being drafted, specific to the chosen sender email account.
Hell, by most accounts, this functionality was already in the iPhone version of the software to begin with!

But ultimately you are right Android users should be able to a attach signature. My bosses are very unhappy about this.
The silence could be because allowing html emails is a security risk.
da...@gmail.com <da...@gmail.com> #73
I highly doubt it, as the Android Gmail Client already allows you the ability to do rudimentary formatting, and the iPhone Gmail client apparently accommodates full integration with Gmail itself, including HTML formatted signatures.
If the iPhone client is just a re-skinned web page, why wouldn't Google just do the same with the Android client?
ga...@dexters.co.uk <ga...@dexters.co.uk> #74
The iphone app needs a connection i.e. its like a browser viewing your online account. My corporate html signature is applied after sending.
Android app holds the emails like outlook (syncs with online account) and can be read off-line.
Our iphone users want to read email off-line so asking them to use iphone app so signatures attach would not go down well.
Come on Google! Everyday I get development update emails and everyday I hope for an announcement. The email today announced the login would have left justified text not centered text.
There's always tomorrow...

For what it's worth, I would think (but have insufficient direct knowledge to say for certain) that it may be easiest to leverage access to the configuration within the browser-based email account of user, based on the account being used within the android app, and then bring back the signature details and/or imagery used in the signatures in place there, and inject that content into the email being originated, replied, or forwarded within the Android app.
Thank you very much!
sa...@sigstr.com <sa...@sigstr.com> #96
I wholly agree. If the Android app had the same "Mobile Signature" feature like the iOS Gmail app does, I think that would relieve the vast majority of the pain here. Signatures are easy to setup an control in the desktop-browser app - syncing those and appending the same signature to mobile emails is a huge win for Android.
HTML editing on a mobile device would be clunky at best - I would not suggest building that into any of the mobile apps first.
ch...@stockwisesupport.com <ch...@stockwisesupport.com> #97
The font and signature should behave the same no matter which platform, either plain text or rich text with a well-formed HTML signature that should be configurable on the desktop version and taken up and used on the mobile version.
If the mobile app could also provide a rich text editor for managing signatures and have signatures synced...
If the mobile app could make use of the font type and size set just as it is on the desktop version of Gmail now...
Then we can say that Gmail is seamless across all devices. Right now, it is not and has not been for many, many years!

Google, if you are reading this, Google "Gmail Signature hijack" on your own site. When was the last time a user was compromised for having an HTML signature with malware in it? According to your results... NEVER! People today are at major risk of phishing, not to HTML signatures. If Gmail desktop is chugging along just fine, and the iPhone has been doing this for YEARS, what is holding you back on mobile? At least tell us where you stand on this and why?

Very unprofessional, given that Gapps is one of the main business email providers on the market, this should have been picked up on and implemented years ago.
There is absolutely no reason why an email passing through the google servers doesn't get the 'desktop' signature appended on the way through as one would expect.
One workaround exists, which is to relay all outgoing email through a server / service which then appends a personalised signature (based on the 'from' address), however it's one more failure point, expensive and creates issues with DKIM signing (and therefore increases the chance of legit mail getting labelled as spam).
We are moving away from this workaround solution, to managing our signatures via the Gmail API, however we will miss having uniform signatures no matter what device an email originated from.
Google, do take the time to implement the feature. You don't even have to touch the IOS/Android app!
A simple tick-box in Gapps Admin to always append the 'desktop' signature to outgoing mail will do what most of us here want.

We strive to have a consistent image all across the board, through all our communications no matter the device.
The 2 main brands used by our employees are Apple and Android. Guess which of the 2 have the least consistent image of the 2?
Definitely Android, with the inability to use html signatures the company image really takes a hit from one Android user to the other.
At least allow the Gmail Desktop signature to be appended to outgoing mobile emails like on iPhone. It is frustrating to pay for a service that is gimped by this lacking "feature".
After 8 years, Google definitely needs to act on this.

No, I cannot. It's a system app.

Yes, the last time I got a new phone. It didn't work.

Do you have any progress on making the email signature applied on whichever portable device we want to use as Google workspace Customers?
For example I setup my HTML signature on my Gmail via web browser and that email signature should be applied if use Gmail App for iOS and Android.
Microsoft 365 is about to release a roaming signature for their valued customers. What about Google? Are you gonna fix it or release a workaround at least? This issue has been going on for almost 10 years now.
I would love to be part of the beta or to be used a Guinea pig if you need help for testing.

It's amazing. We are almost 10 years on from when this issue was first raised. For me, this makes the Gmail app completely useless for business email. HTML signatures are a MUST HAVE feature (and should be available for all aliases too).
Right now I use Aquamail, which allows HTML signatures for each account and every alias that you add to it. However, with the extra communication functionality that is now being added to the Gmail app, it would be nice to use it! At least aliases have finally been added.
PLEASE make this feature a priority!

Description
The android application however, does not support HTML signatures created within the web application.
Formatting of text within the GMail application is currently possible in a limited sense; please extend this to all HTML formatting, AND, consolidate signatures akin to how they are configured and used within the gmail web application.
Thank you.
