Build: 3.1 Canary 6, AI-173.4506631, 201712160150,

AI-173.4506631, JRE 1.8.0_152-release-1024-b01x64 JetBrains s.r.o, OS Windows 10(amd64) v10.0 , screens 1920x1080, 1920x1080, 1920x1080

The palette does not have the same layout structure which displays the possible controls in specific grouping as Android Studio 3.0.1. I find Version 3.0.1 easy to use compared to 3.1 Canary 6.
