I have noticed a recent change where setting the locality component of a geocode request does not restrict the results to the specified city/locality, even when the address appears to be valid for the specified locality.

An example taken from the New Forward Geocoding FAQ:

https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/geocode/json?address=gordon&components=locality:dublin
Returns the result "Gordon County" instead of an address in Dublin city as described in the FAQ.

Another example:

https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/geocode/json?address=2204+Greenleaf&components=locality:Chicago
returns "2204 N Greenleaf St, Wichita, KS 67226, USA" instead of a similar address in Chicago

Due to recent updates in the Geocoding API, following components may be used to influence results, but will not be enforced: route, locality, administrative_area.
