Feature Request P2

I'd like to star this issue (it says one person has, above, in the header), but can't figure out how, so I'll comment here. I support this idea. This feature is table stakes for most monitoring solutions these days, and discovering that it's not possible in StackDriver was a blow to our consideration for using it as our main metrics dashboard.
Has this feature been considered in the interim since it was first reported in January? Is there any news at all?

This would be very useful and would allow users to create more flexible logging. For example I can log. { NumberOfThingA: 20, NumberOfThingB: 40 } and be able to derive proportions, differences, etc if I can do this at the metric level

+1 Would be very useful for us(and many more) as well!

+1 was very surprised you can not do this already :( sounds like a must have

+1 This is so easy to set up in ELK, we really need it in stackdriver too

You can't create a chart, but you can create alerts that divide one metric by another. It's not a great experience, but that was what we really needed. If your needs are similar, have a look at the denominator fields on alert policies: https://cloud.google.com/monitoring/api/ref_v3/rest/v3/projects.alertPolicies#metricthreshold

It's not a great experience because you can still see a wrong graph in the alert option(that does not represent the ratio defined), and if you try to modify the condition in the UI it breaks the alert.
We use it, but does not cover the full use case that in other products is fulfilled.

It's unbelievable that such a simple operation is not yet implemented in stackdriver.
Please implement it soon. We are going to move away from stackdriver mainly because of this issue.
Thank you

Ran into this today. Was surprised to learn I couldn't make a "ratio" chart by dividing one metric by another.

Description
It would be useful to create charts from the results of arithmetic operations between metrics for a time interval.
E.g.: calculate the ratio ("metric A" / "metric B") between two metrics and issue a new chart with the result.
