Thank you for your assistance.
NFC "Smart Lock" is a extremely practical and highly secure means of 2FA, something that Google is very supportive of. It is something you have, it's communication reach covers a very small area that the owner can be confident of securing, doesn't rely on yet another battery to be maintained, and is a security technology that Google FULLY supports in other contexts, including on the Android platform, such as Google Pay and Titan!
Google publicly trumpets the effectiveness of 2FA for keeping their own devices and accounts safe, yet silently yanks a functioning 2FA feature that had been available for several versions of Android?? A feature, BTW, that was developed by Google's own cell phone company as a major feature of security and conveinence (Moto X).
Aside from personally whims, I really have a hard time understanding why NFC "Smart Lock" would have been removed as a security feature. It makes so very little sense.
Please do consider reviving, refactoring, updating, creating HAL support, or whatever else it takes to bring back this user friendly feature.

NFC obsolete? You guys are fucking nuts. Using your phone to pay is obsolete? I didn't think so. It's just users who want to use their phone's functionality that are obsolete, right? How dare those friggin punks want anything! The one good thing here is that the more you look like Apple, the sooner a decent competitor will replace you.

And it was closed.

I'd be keen to use this, I use one for work all the time, would be cool to use it for plmy phone as well

Please bring it back. Only reason I got NFC tags in the first place.
Description
Just like other means in the "Smart Lock" feature, I'd like to be able to use NFC to do it too.
NFC is as secure as the rest of the methods, so there is no reason not to have it.
