Same issue and it also will not allow me to register new fingerprints. Android 14 Beta 1

Android 14 Beta 1 has this same issue. I've even tried removing all fingerprints and readding them with no luck. Rebooting doesn't fix it. You're always forced to enter your PIN or Pattern code. Face Unlock seems to work without any issues.

Pixel 7 Pro Android 14 Beta 1. Fingerprint setup timed out. Can't use fingerprint sensor. I'm able to unlock phone with other security features but the fingerprint sensor is not working. I've deleted registered fingerprints and tried to register new ones but a pop up error message appears. Attached a screenshot of the message. Fingerprint sensor worked fine before upgrading to Android 14.

It's the same for me. You can't unlock your finger.

Mine did this once and then suddenly it works again and hasn't happened yet
again. Nothing seemed to trigger it and nothing seemed to fix it either.
Not restarts or anything.

I seem to have re-enabled the fingerprint scanning by a combination of removing all fingerprints, disabling face and fingerprint unlock, rebooting and then turning it back on and re-enrolling the fingerprint. Not sure if it is a permanent fix, or what step did the trick. Here is before and after screenshots, note the fingerprint icon.

Sorry it didn't work for you. I found that it may be related to the bug entitled "com.android.qns crashed" as it didn't happen on this reboot and may be related.

I tried your suggestion and it still doesn't work. You may be right about the com.android.ans bug. *shrugs*

I can also confirm that my fingerprint reader has stopped working since the update.

Same problem, after update (Android 14 bta 1, UPB1.230309.014) the fingerprint reader doesn't work, unregistering the previous fingerprints didn't help. Can't register new ones and get the error "Fingerprint setup timed out"

Fingerprint unlock works, but not at the same time as network identification in the notification bar. You can toggle the esim off and then back on, and then the 5g will appear, but the fingerprint scanner won't work

I have faced same issue after flashing UPB1 from flash.android.com

It's occurred at time of setting up device...

I added FP from settings.. it worked fine..

Similar issue here, when my screen is locked and I click on a notification, I get the finger print unlock, but when I touch it, it immediately switches to the keypad input.  However, if I just unlock the screen without clicking a notification the fingerprint generally works.

I deleted my fingerprints and cannot re-add them due to the error.

Fingerprint unlock not working on device. However it does work with apps that use biometric unlock. So it's just unlocking the device that is the issue. Pixel 6 Pro.

managed to get fingerprint unlock to work again. Deleting stored face unlock model + reboot, on top of deleting deleting stored prints hours prior, did the trick. Hopefully re-adding face unlock doesn't break it again.

Just adding to my comment above: I am able to add fingerprints without issue. This has not resolved the issue however turning off/on the display/rebooting the device still does not allow biometric (fingerprint) unlock. PIN required to proceed.

Also managed to get this working now. Removed all fingerprints. Reboot device. Add new fingerprints. Reboot device. Unlock device, turn off display. Fingerprint unlocked.
