Using DataBinding, if the same ID is used for two components in a layout, the build obviously fails. But, when you fix this, the compiler continues to report this error and you have to restart Android Studio or invalidate caches and restart.

This is probably the bug that just got fixed related to databinding caching, so I'm tentatively marking as duplicate. Please check out that bug and let me know if 1) it seems different than your own bug or 2) the bug is still happening for you after the mentioned gradle plugin comes out.

I think this is a different bug. I have sent out a fix, waiting for review.

To work around this issue, you can run ./gradlew --stop from the command line.
