I'm only able to set a default build variant in Android Studio if I have the option "Only sync the active variant" enabled (from Preferences/ Experimental).

Is this an expected behavior?


I'm using the same logic discussed on issue [#36988145](https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/36988145)
