Apparently there's an incremental build issue if you have a Kotlin module depend on a Java-only module; see this tweet from Ivan (and some follow-ups from Zac) :
We should detect this scenario specifically and offer an explanation or better yet, suggest what the right fix is (for example in the thread it looked like Zac tried to add a single Kotlin file into the upstream module but that that didn't work.)
