Description
A short description of the request:
Please provide some way to know that a draft is really a template, or just don't return templates as drafts.
What is the purpose of this new feature?
Stopping accidental deletion of Gmail templates in 3rd party email clients. Templates are currently exposed through the Gmail API and IMAP as regular old draft messages. User see this, think these are just old stale drafts, and delete them.
What existing APIs would this affect?
messages.list, drafts.list
Please provide any additional information below.
I previously reported this as https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/168223591 , but I believe there might have been a miscommunication as the resolution of "Won't Fix" doesn't make sense to me. The change being requested is an API data-model-layer issue.
(Our preferred fix would be to not only have a separate label indicating which messages are templates, but also be able to set that label ourselves, so users can create new templates from our email client)
