After scrolling the ScrollView content down and then up to the very beginning, the ScrollView content does not return to its starting position. When the screen is pressed again, the ScrollView content returns to its starting position. Same problem when scrolling up and then down to the very end.
Please fix this issue completely before the final release. Bad user experience.

Based on my testing, the behavior is now partially fixed for ScrollView and completely unfixed for HorizontalScrollView. As for the correct behavior, please refer to RecyclerView scrolling behavior, it works well, and is unaffected by this bug.
I've added a new directory "
Please check and fix the issue before final release. Thanks!

Android 14 QPR1 Beta contains the fix for this bug. Sadly it is not fixed in the stable release of Android 14, which means that Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G) will probably never get the fix officialy.

The issue is caused by Google Drive (or other) application interfering with the ShellImagePreview registration for PNG files, or DefaultIcon (i'm not 100% on which), either way after defaulting the png registration the thumbnails work properly again which also means the UWP and taskbar icons work too.

In my case, I was running GoogleDrive for a while with no issue. Then I changed the default photos app. That's when the issue started, both preview thumbnails and Windows App thumbnail icons stopped working.
After trying every other suggestion, I uninstalled GoogleDrive. The icons came back. Repeated multiple times. Same. Drive installed, thumbnails for apps stopped working. But again, everything worked fine until switching the default photo viewing app. Probably why this problem seems so random. Switching the default app back to Photos in the cpl didn't work btw.
So, I've switched the default back to the Photos Microsoft app, run the PNG file association restore, reinstalled GoogleDrive, and everything works as expected so far.
Hope this helps somebody =)

it renders pinned MS Store apps invisible on the task bar because the icon is a no longer renderable png thumbnail.

1. Uninstall Google Drive.
2. Press WIN + R (Run box)
3. enter "sysdm.cpl"
4. Click "Advanced"
5. In the Performance box, click Settings.
6. Check "Save taskbar thumbnail previews"
7. Click Ok.
8. Open file explorer and enter "%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Packages\" into the directory bar.
9. Find the folder by the name of Microsoft.Windows.Search_(RANDOM CHARACTERS)
10. Navigate to LocalState\AppIconCache\
11. click the folder that matches your current display size/scale. (likely 100)
12. Delete everything in this folder.
13. Restart Windows.
14. Wait one minute for your AppIconCache to be refreshed.
15. reinstall google drive.
16. DONE! Windows search icons are normal and you have google drive installed! Basically this makes windows cache all the fixed icons so it doesn't re-fetch the broken ones after google drive is installed!
Google please implement a fix for this already. It's almost been 3 years. If your waiting on Microsoft to fix the cause please don't. I'm sure one of your talented software engineers can find a creative solution.

Interesting that this only works with complete removal of Google Drive. Tried to only disable it, and it doesn't work, only with uninstall (what?).
As always, Google doesn't cares about users complains. Unfortunately I'm locked with Google Drive because enterprise choose this instead of Microsoft 365.

Edit: This may be happening due to Window Store updates
The status of the bug listed on the right is "New" - that's concerning.
Edit: Edit: Fix by unpinning (if pinned), closing the app and use that .png association reset registry file. Will need to do each time a pinned (or searched) app is updated!

Good lord how has this not been fixed? How can it work fine for Onedrive, Creative Cloud, Dropbox, but not Google?
I managed to fix the issue by removing google drive and deleting the windows Icon folder cache.
The moment I re-installed google drive, the issue returns.
se...@gmail.com <se...@gmail.com> #64
Classic Google ignoring user issues, especially on Windows, as they don't really use Windows inside the company, so Windows tends to be a low priority... I wonder if there is any permanent & clean, workaround we can come up with, maybe just something deleting the png handler for the Google Drive and rebuilds the cache somehow...

1. Press the Windows key + R to open up a Run dialog box. Inside the box, type “ms-settings:easeofaccess-display” and hit Enter to open the Display tab of the Settings app.
2. Inside the Display tab, scroll down to the Make everything bigger tab and change the drop-down menu under Change the size of apps to 125%.
3. Restart your computer. (sometimes it didn't require)
4. Once the next startup is complete, see if the icons are displaying correctly.
Note: Regardless of the outcome (if this fix was successful or not) you can return to the Display tab and change the size of the apps back to 100%.

I only just spent the time researching why my icons are broken today and am amazed that such a common app like Google Drive would do this. The least you could do is acknowledge the issue and give status updates on fixing it.

1.Uninstall the Google Drive software from your PC.
2.Delete the folder "C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\AppIconCache" Folder
3. Restart your PC.
4. Install Google Drive software if you want to continue to use it, and disable drive letter assignment in Google Drive software settings, and apply synchronization from Drive to just folders .
How do you like it?
jl...@gmail.com <jl...@gmail.com> #76
step 1-3 were smooth and fixed it. Good start
step 4 was a drama. Trying to get it back to the way I had with Mirror and a specific folder location. I caused duplicate files (all suffixed with a '(1)' ) to be created for every file I had and it took a while to get the Preferences right in the "Settings" cog plus then the mirror setup for in the "Google Drive" tab (not the "My Laptop" tab or settings cog which seems to only control streaming folders?)
Anyway, I think it's all sorted. Hopefully now the icons stay fixed. Seriously though, couldn't they just fix the issue
ma...@gmail.com <ma...@gmail.com> #77
the "solution" for me is to uninstall google drive without logging out, reboot, rebuild the icons (by changing a couple of time 100%->150->back to 100%) and then installing google drive again.
that fix everything but it last a week or so, and then the problem again reappears. if you don't log out from google drive before uninstall it when you reinstall you don't have to login and all settings are not lost. so basically it is just a matter of uninstall, reboot, rebuild icons cache and reinstall again.
it is a 5 minutes fix but obviously it is real shame for google.....
