Still no update on this? This seems to be a major deficiency of a core concept to me. I ran into the same issue, although my list's state holder is a viewmodel.
Description
I would like to be able to extract information about place or location in a photo, album (e.g lat and long coordinates) or place/location name.
Is there an API with this functionality?

My application needs to recover information related to location/place.
