Either I'm not reproducing the steps right, but this seems unfixable. It happens due to the nature of touch screens and the possibility that part of your finger is touching another place.

To reproduce it, you simply have to start touching the volume slider at the top of the screen (not the right one that comes up when you press the volume keys!) and then slowly moving to left or right and lastly keeping your finger on the spot, without moving.
If you don't have a Pixel 4, then you might not be affected. This is not a touch screen issue.

I can very accurately reproduce this on Pixel 6. Attaching a screen recording as well for reference

This doesn't happen with the volume slider, only the brightness one.
It seems to want to go back to the way the brightness level was at before changing it.

Description
(Note: It is the build when sending this report. For exact build reference, please see the attached bugreport.)
What type of Android issue is this? User Interface, Display, or Rendering issue
When did this happen?
Jan 12, 2022 20:35 GMT+01:00
What steps would let us observe this issue?
1. Put the theme switching quick toggle in the 4 first quick toggles.
2. Have some expandable separate notifications.
3. Tap on the theme toggle and watch specifically the buttons
What did you expect to happen?
I expected every button and every UI element to slowly and smoothly fade into the new theme (light or dark).
What actually happened?
The buttons behaved strangely, and didn't change the colour at the same time, while also not fading smoothly into the new colour, but rather just instantly switching without a transition.
How often has this happened?
Frequently
What was the effect of this issue on your device usage, such as lost time or work?
None - device worked normally
Additional comments
This is kinda annoying the first time you notice this. I don't really expect you to fix it. But it would make Pixel Android even cleaner and more polished :P
