DESCRIBE THE ISSUE IN DETAIL:

emulator tries to replace with arm64 version but replace script is missing:

emulator: ERROR: process is translated under Rosetta. Attempting to replace emulator installation.
emulator: Replacing via command: /Users/<USER>/Library/Android/sdk/emulator/darwin-aarch64-replace.sh (downloading ~120 MB)...
sh: /Users/<USER>/Library/Android/sdk/emulator/darwin-aarch64-replace.sh: No such file or directory
emulator: Replacement done. Please relaunch the emulator. You will also need to be using an Apple Silicon-compatible system image. Check the release updates blog (https://androidstudio.googleblog.com/) for more details

darwin-aarch64-replace.sh was removed within this commit: https://android.googlesource.com/platform/prebuilts/android-emulator/+/ed4d8fc6e2d9c8f97c667a78ed5c0675cb633e11/darwin-x86_64/darwin-aarch64-replace.sh

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

Run Emulator Command to list AVDs in Terminal (/Users/<USER>/Library/Android/sdk/emulator/emulator -list-avds
After adding the file manually the emulator replaces itself with the arm64 version and works

Studio Build: 2021.2.4 (IntelliJ - M1 Build) Version of Gradle Plugin: 4.2 Version of Gradle: 6.9 Version of Java: 11 OS: Mac OS 12.3 (M1) Emulator Version: 31.2.9

would you help to run the emulator with verbose log and upload the log here? the command would be:

/Users/<USER>/Library/Android/sdk/emulator/emulator -avd <your_avd_name> -verbose

we got a fix in ToT:

which should be released in the next emulator canary build. I will mark it as fixed for now but please let me know if next week it still doesn't work after updating (note that you would need to wait for 1~2 week for the release and switch Android Studio update channel to canary to receive the fix)
