me too please I would like a switch to webp change these tile images sent by GoogleMaps.
Google LiteHouse scolds me every day for using webp :p

Providing Google Maps with WEBP file format would significantly help reduce the impact the PNG files currently have on Core Web Vitals.
If its possible to provide an option to have map tiles in WEBP format that would be very beneficial.

What steps will reproduce the problem? Please provide a link to a
demonstration page if at all possible, or attach code.
1. Running a Lighthouse report will show the performance impact these tiles have.
