The bug is also reproducible for phone emulators within Android Studio.

Is emulator running in Studio or in a separate window? What window manager did you use?

It's running in AS docked. Similar behavior when the view mode is set to "floating" or "window". Exactly the same for floating (loses focus) and in window mode, it loses focus and the AS window comes to the front.

The fix is available in Studio Flamingo Canary 9 and later.
Description
When focused on a Wear emulator and using the keyboard shortcut for back, "esc", the focus is lost from the emulator and given to the editor in Android Studio.
