Description
Screen recording on adb is currently restricted to just 3 minutes, and it works by first preparing the file on the device, and then copying it to the PC, making all the work being done on the device and also quite restricted.
There is a rumor that it might change to 30 minutes, but still be restricted and still rely on storage of the device.
Please remove these restrictions and improve how it works.
Let us choose to have the file directly prepared on the PC, getting larger as it records, and avoid relying on device resources.
This might have multiple advantages:
1. PC usually has much more storage and so it's less restricted.
2. PC is usually more powerful and can last for more.
3. You could choose to encode on the PC or on the device, having a choice of where to have the work done, and might reduce the work on the device, offering smoother recording.
4. As the file is being prepared on the PC while it records, in case of an accidental disconnection between the PC and the device, the file still exists, and you can at least play it till the time of the disconnection. When it's on the device, you need to copy it.
5. Better privacy, because other apps on the device won't be able to read the file before it's being moved to the PC (currently it's quite public).
