I tried 3 Apps
1. Discord (have issues)
2. Facebook Messenger (NO ISSUES)
3. Skype (have issues)
How to reproduce: just take phone calls....
More details:
Discord: same as original report. If I still need to talk while doing other things, just activate "split screen" like the screenshot.
Skype: When phone call started, swipe to home screen, it will activate PiP mode, and the microphone still available, but if I manually closed the PiP window, microphone indicator (green) will gone, and microphone turn off also.
Facebook: It will activate PiP when swipe to home screen, but microphone still works when the PiP window closed by user.

I'm experiencing the same problem although with SKYPE. I'm on Pixel 8, Android 14, SW version AP2A.240805.005.
Every time, when im on a Skype call (at home or in the car) and Im using the speaker, the moment I turn off the screen - the microphone stops working. I'm hearing the other side perfect, but hey don't hear me. If I turn on the screen, the microphone starts working again.
Up until 1 month I had a Pixel 4a on Android 13 (latest firmware) which has never experienced the same behaviour with skype or any other program.

When Discord is in background, the system's microphone using indicator (green) will gone, and Discord can't use microphone too, but I can hear others voice
