Description

The baseUrl in MediaItems API (https://developers.google.com/photos/library/reference/rest/v1/mediaItems) does not return the original photo. And the photo's location info is lost.

Detailed description

• The downloaded (with =d parameter) media item from baseUrl loses the original item's metadata, including location (GPS), which is extremely important to photos.
• The downloaded (with =d parameter) media item from baseUrl is not the original photo/video.
  • The size changes (photos always become smaller, whereas videos could become larger)
  • The format sometimes changes (e.g., BMP will be converted into JPG)
  • Lower subsampling etc.
  • Motion photos turn into still JPG
• Furthermore, there's no API provides the location (GPS) info of a media item separately.

What is the expected output?

• Location info should be returned from the API, either embedded in the file itself or separately in one of the MediaItem's fields.
• Downloaded media items from the API should be the original file with all the metadata info (including location) - and hence the file format and size should remain exactly the same.
