I'm having the same problem and unfortunately there's no trace of the error (I can't find it on logs at least).
My scenario: I have an App Engine project for Java, with billing enabled, with running backends, with HRD (mirrored from an old Master/Slave project), some idle instances and no custom domain.

I'm seeing the same problem. I believe this is the only way to use the Blobstore with Google Cloud Storage, correct? I'd be happy to create a different storage account but it doesn't seem possible to use the Blobstore/GS integration...

I too am having this problem with the application parrot-pairing, although the otherwise-identical app parrot-pairing-dev worked fine the first time.
[Deleted User] <[Deleted User]> #6
It occurred to me that I have a separate Cloud Services project that I think was previously also named "parrot-pairing" but which I renamed to "parrot-pairing-db" when I discovered the names would clash. Could this renaming process have left some detritus around that poisoned the "parrot-pairing" name for cloud services projects?
ma...@google.com <ma...@google.com> #7
Thank you for the report. There are some errors which are not resolved by simply retrying. In the case of parrot-pairing I have found the bug which we will fix in a future release. When the fix rolls out, the retry should succeed.
The error information is not visible to application developers as it's an error in the implementation. However, given a particular app id we on the App Engine team can investigate further.
This is not the only way to use Google Cloud Storage and App Engine, although it is one of the ways we intend to accomplish our goal of simplifying the configuration of your application. There is more information on how to configure this here:https://developers.google.com/appengine/docs/python/googlestorage/

Could you look into my app? The ID is whamcitylights
It would save me a lot of time to be able to use the Blobstore API integration with GS. I plan to slowly migrate to GS completely but I really can't afford to make the full transition right now. Thus enabling this integration would be huge benefit. Thanks

I'm trying to activate Google Cloud Datastore, because Google Cloud SQL is not free. I'd like to use it as a database for my Google App Engine Application, with App Engine PHP. Basically PHP/SQL -> PHP/Datastore. I don't even know if what I'm doing is how Google Cloud Datastore supposed to work, but it'd be cool to see my nuts and bolts do something! Many Thanks to the developers for even having option available.

After the 1.8.3 fix, we were able to successfully create a "Google Cloud Project" for both of our applications, ethosedge and ethosedge-sandbox. However, now when attempting to create a new bucket in Google Cloud Storage, we are presented with the error "The account for the specified project has been disabled." This is a rather disturbing error message.
Billing is enabled for both accounts, is this a lingering error caused by this bug?

if you have the "The account for the specified project has been disabled." error when you try to create your first bucket you must go to "APIs and Auth" on Google Cloud Console and enable "Google Cloud Storage"
[Deleted User] <[Deleted User]> #28
I'm having the same issue for the application nearwoo. Google Cloud Storage is enabled in the "APIs and Auth" Tab.
On the GAE Administration Settings site, it says:
"Cloud Integration
Create a Google Cloud project for this application.
The project was created successfully. See the Basics section for more details."
There's no bucket name listed in the Basics section.
The settings are identical to our other application testnearwoo, where it works just fine. However, I think this app was created after GCS became standard, whereas nearwoo was not.

As with the previous post I am receiving the "An error occurred when creating the project. Please retry."
Each time I retry I get the same error.
The same problem has occurred on multiple new apps, with and without billing enabled.
app id's: mb-visual-request, mb-test-upload.
The only way I have managed to get around this error is to create a new Google Cloud Storage Bucket and add the GAE's Service Account Name as a user. Unfortunately this requires billing to be enabled on each account.

FYI, the error message persists with "An error occurred when creating the project. Please retry." and in "Application Settings" under the "Google Cloud Storage Bucket:" it has a link to the default bucket but when clicked says "A required resource is not available". Definitely broken somewhere.

Hey Folks,
We do regular triage of Public Issue Tracker issues, although there are many issues and it's not always possible to get to them in the speediest time-frame. Now that this thread has come up for review, I want to make sure that we don't leave anybody behind, so I will give the best advice possible:
If you are still affected by this issue, please
1. make a *new* Public Issue Tracker thread with your app ID and a HAR recording of your browser's activity as you attempt the failing action attached
2. make sure to add the label "Restrict-View-EditIssue" to the issue so that the HAR file will be properly private.
The method described above is the correct way to get help with an app-specific production issue. Starring threads and commenting in the same thread is a strategy that should be used for general platform issues and feature requests, but in the case of issues which potentially need a one-off fix for your specific app, a unique issue should be created so that the fix can be properly tracked, and no single user's "me too, here's my app id" post will be left behind.
If anybody experiencing this issue does so, we will be happy to assist in looking into any possible issues which might exist. Given that OP's issue was opened 2 years ago, this thread will be closed Obsolete, and please remember that if you are still affected by this issue, you will see a very fast resolution time if you post a *new* issue tracker thread in the manner described.
Best wishes,
Nick
