I'm experiencing the same issue on a OnePlus 12 running Oxygen 15. 3rd party launchers are all affected by this animation anomaly, Smart Launcher, Nova, Squarehome, Niagara... the lot

I'm experiencing the same issue with all 3rd party launchers on Pixel 9 Pro XL

Thank you for reporting this issue. We have a fix rolling out now.

Does this mean choppy 3rd party launchers will have smoother animations or am I missing something?
ni...@gmail.com <ni...@gmail.com> #10
Any info please on how will this be rolled out, in Android 16/ as a Google Play system update in 15, etc? And how it is fixed, any new API introduced for launchers or just the duration of choppiness reduced?

Marked as fixed on the 17th of December. Typically how long does it take fixes to reach market? The waiting is frustrating.
ca...@gmail.com <ca...@gmail.com> #13
I've literally been waiting for this to get fixed for YEARS, to the point of it pushing me back to iOS. Please let me know once this is fully fixed so I can go back to Android, since I strongly refuse to use the stock launcher.
ry...@gmail.com <ry...@gmail.com> #14
Is this supposed to be fixed in 15.0.0 (AP4A.250105.002, Jan 2025)? If yes, congrats ... it's not. iPhone I'm coming. I'm so fed up with Google Dev Team incompetence. Every Pixel since the 6 was a mess and bought them all to 9. I AM SICK OF IT.

News of the fix was most welcome but to date absolutely nothing has changed. What the hell gives?

Appears to me to be fixed in Android 16 beta 1, at least when using Lawnchair 15.
br...@gmail.com <br...@gmail.com> #17
Well, that's at least some progress, I guess... But hells bells man, android 16 is probably still a good 6 months away from a RC...
ry...@gmail.com <ry...@gmail.com> #18
One month later, again not fixed. By now that's pure impudence towards users and launcher devs. Google sucks.

Hi, it looks like the issue has been fixed. If the fix has already been published, could someone share the commit link? Thanks!

Hi guys, using smart launcher on my oneplus 13 on oxygenos 15. Animations are still absolutely trash, idk what is up, but when i use a third party launcher my phone feels like a 30 dollar phone

I believe they've fixed the bug but it hasn't been rolled out yet, it'll probably come with android 16

It's incredibly frustrating!! I love my OnePlus 12 and I love the versatility Android offers! I also love that it's half the price of a top end iPhone!
But this 3rd party launcher issue is making me reconsider my life choices! I don't like being in this predicament!
Having said that, I am using a workaround where one installs Vivid Navigation Gesture app, enable buttons navigation and run ABD command prompt: adb shell cmd overlay enable com.android.internal.systemui.navbar.gestural
This ABD command will hide the navigation buttons. Vivid Navigation Gesture app takes over the navigation process.
This method works incredibly well for me and goes a long way to enhancing the end user experience.
PS non-rooted OnePlus 12 running OxygenOS 15/Android 15...
Maybe this helps someone while Google get their ducks in a row...

I bought an iPhone by now, but man does that file management suck. So I went back to Pixel to find the big to be fixed with the latest OTA. The animations are fixed, but now the whole desktop flickers on various occasions. Why is nobody able to fix stuff the right way at Google Dev team?!
ad...@gmail.com <ad...@gmail.com> #24
This is so shitty google. Thought it was an issue with a root app but turns out it's just android being terrible. Thank god I got used to it.
