“ Comment #41/ Comment #42: As I've mentioned previously, the problem with later versions of PDF is they utilize a compressed data stream for the trailer dictionary. The standards are available freely from Adobe here: https://www.adobe.com/content/dam/acom/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/PDF32000_2008.pdf . It would take abilities beyond my own (which shouldn't take much; my background is in business, not computer science) or at least motivation beyond that which I have had to date. My code works for all of my needs, so if I could make it universal without too much effort, I'd gladly do so, but in this instance, that would mean acquiring a whole lot of knowledge for one specific purpose that would not serve me at all at present. If you're able to make any headway with this, I'd love to hear back. As I say, I just don't know the first thing about compressed data streams, and I won't have sufficient reason to dig into them in the foreseeable future. ”
