If not all audio, at least "raw" access to audio from Microphone for applications
that wish to process audio in real-time (instead of just recording it to a file), and
the ability to play audio from a buffer in real time as well.

I'm voting for this because I want access to decoded audio samples when playing music
files (for a music visualizer).

I would like to see real-time raw audio data from the MediaPlayer/WAV/MP3's available
as well as real-time microphone data as well.

I would like to have access to the audio stream of the phone conversation for call
audio recording for implementing either a simple call recording application or for a
more advanced in-phone answering machine / voicemail application. Live audio stream
access to the microphone is needed for VOIP.
If 'privacy' of the recorded person is an issue, play a short beep-tone, like some
other phones do (like my old Nokia)

It is a good idea. It would be great to have influence on audio data from
incoming/outgoing call.

I would really like to be able to play audio straight from memory from my
application, rather than from the filesystem. This is necessary for sound generated
in real time, or for implementing custom streaming protocols.

When trying to make multiplayer games with voice chat you would need access to raw
audio data. I wonder, is this not implemented because of the threat of VoIP to the
carriers? As Android develops we will see more and more clashes between the will of
the people, and the will of the carriers with Google as the moderator.

I was hoping this feature would be included in the NDK, as I described in Issue 36908622 .

I don't think the intention of this was to only retrieve audio samples just from calls
but real-time access to the audio buffer data.

has there been any progress on this? real-time access to the audio buffer data? more specifically can we trigger audio that the person on the other end can hear in a call?
jo...@gmail.com <jo...@gmail.com> #14
There has been none progress whatsoever with respect to this issue. Google seems to lack personel that listens to the needs of developers. I imagine that they only talk to companies that develop Android apps which has the side-effect of neglecting opportunities that applications that are impossible to implement with the current API would bring. Sad.

I try use the Visualizer class for music visualization and it seems that getfft and getwaveform methods return a random data instead of music...

Hey there! I totally get it; missing access to audio samples on Issuu can be a bit frustrating. I've had a similar experience, and it's always a bummer when you're expecting a certain feature to work smoothly. Have you tried reaching out to their support? Sometimes they can provide quick solutions or insights on when the issue might be resolved. Let's hope they sort it out soon so we can enjoy those audio samples hassle-free!

samples of phone conversations. Also, when reproducing multimedia
content, there is no possibility to access the decoded audio samples.
One possible I implementation would be to allow users to create an
intent that receives all audio signals together with their intended
target (speaker, bluetooth headset, disc recording, etc.)
