I have same issue on Nexus 5x after upgrading. Build version NRD90R
sh...@gmail.com <sh...@gmail.com> #4
Same issue since the Nougat upgrade, would love a fix
fr...@gmail.com <fr...@gmail.com> #5
The vibration is annoying (mostly because the person on the other end can hear it) but I have always wished Android played (subtle) audible notifications when you're on a call. If someone is frantically texting/WhatsApping me in the middle of a long call, I'd prefer to know rather than discover them when I hang up.
al...@gmail.com <al...@gmail.com> #6
Which future release will the fix be showing up in?
ae...@gmail.com <ae...@gmail.com> #7
Please release this asap... I Have to use headphones when I'm on a call
rj...@gmail.com <rj...@gmail.com> #8
OTA roll out is still showing this issue. hardly a professional feature.
ka...@gmail.com <ka...@gmail.com> #9
This sound is deafening and distracting, especially when on important calls, (I.e. phone call from doc!!) A month after this was reported and still no update to fix, despite being told there is a fix over 3 weeks ago.
ra...@raztech.net <ra...@raztech.net> #10
Hi, it seems Google doesn't read their own forums, or fix any problems, how wonderful. Thanks Google, you're the best.
wa...@gmail.com <wa...@gmail.com> #11
This is awful. Vibrates on my ear while I'm on the phone and get a text. This hasn't been an issue in years. Clearly a bug that needs to be fixed ASAP.
ch...@gmail.com <ch...@gmail.com> #12
A temporary work-around is to use Tasker to turn on Do Not Disturb mode while in a call. It's ridiculous, but it works for me until Google can fix the bug.
do...@dominikschoeni.ch <do...@dominikschoeni.ch> #13
I got the same issue as well, Nexus 5X on Nougat, NRD90R. Is there an ETA for the fix?
br...@gmail.com <br...@gmail.com> #14
Any chance you would be able to provide instructions for Tasker? That's a brilliant idea for workaround! I have the app installed but new to using it. Thanks.
ch...@gmail.com <ch...@gmail.com> #15
Basically, I created a profile that picks up on Call state and sets Do Not Disturb mode while the device is in a call. I've attached the profile, if you open it on your device it should import to Tasker directly.
br...@gmail.com <br...@gmail.com> #16
Chris you are a lifesaver! Thank you! For those who don't know, you have to download the file to your droid, open up Tasker, then press and hold down on the Profiles tab and then click import. Go to your downloads folder and select the profile that Chris shared in his post above.

fa...@gmail.com <fa...@gmail.com> #18
I've noticed this issue too when updating to Nougat. It's annoying because the person on the other end of the call hears it as well. Please fix this promptly!
pr...@gmail.com <pr...@gmail.com> #19
I've just updated to Nougat yesterday & noticed that the phone vibrates on any notification during an ongoing call. I can see that this issue was reported more than a month ago - any timelines for resolving this?
ja...@google.com <ja...@google.com> #20
This is fixed in an upcoming maintenance release.
ra...@raztech.net <ra...@raztech.net> #21
It's fixed in 7.1 beta so far
da...@gmail.com <da...@gmail.com> #22
I too have this problem. on my new Pixel phone. I get vibration notification from whatsapp, facebook, email, etc. whenever I'm in a call. I used to have the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact where I can manage the vibration during calls. Unfortunately, I do not see this option on the Pixel phone. Please advise if we have the option to disable the vibration.
ra...@raztech.net <ra...@raztech.net> #23
Google is pathetic :) they don't care about quality control
Just upgrade to the 7.1 beta, bug is gone there

I'm on 7.1 on the Pixel and this still happens.
te...@gmail.com <te...@gmail.com> #25
This has been happening with my Pixel ever since I got it when first released... so annoying. I want to throw my phone every time it vibrates my head while I'm on a call. I've chatted with Google support, submitted feedback and tweeted at them. Still nothing. Seems like such a simple problem to fix.
sa...@gmail.com <sa...@gmail.com> #26
I got the 7.1.1 a couple of days ago and noticed that Google did a "workaround" and not a fix for this bug.
When you receive/make a call, the DND mode is activated and you can see the DND icon in the status bar. See the attached screenshot.
This still is a workaround and not a fix. Absolutely ridiculous!!

te...@gmail.com <te...@gmail.com> #27
Just got the 7.1.1 update and I see the same "workaround". I'm happy as long as my head isn't vibrating while I'm on the phone. But it does seem pretty silly that they couldn't just fix it.
di...@gmail.com <di...@gmail.com> #28
I am still at 7.0, waiting for the update to 7.1.1... It's my fault for assuming that buying a Nexus (be it 6) would guarantee fast updates. It saddens me when I contemplate buying an iPhone.

The issue still persists for me on my OnePlus 3T with Android 7.1.1 without having the workaround with setting the DND mode as mentioned above.
I can't believe that such a basic requirement like calling without disturbance by vibrations cannot be met by Google. Really frustrating and disappointing...

Been having the same issue for at least 7 months now, since ever upgrading my Nexus 6 to Android 7.0 and there is no 7.1 available to download. Basically unable to make calls without getting a jackhammer treatment next to my skull. It doesn't seem like there's a fix for it, phone gives me update about once every month, but none of those updates fix this very critical flaw in the operating system. Please help! Do I really need to buy a whole new phone to be able to make calls without vibrations? Can i downgrade back to Android 6.0 somehow?
90...@gmail.com <90...@gmail.com> #43
Oki doki.. the suffering is over, finally got a working fix!!
I just couldn't stand it anymore and did my homework, googled, and put all the pieces together.
As stated all over the forums, Android 7.1 has the DND workaround built-in, and so does 7.1.1 which is the latest build (for Nexus 6, anyway). But the catch is, Google isn't pushing this update to Nexus 6 over the air (OTA), so you have to go hardcore and do some developer work. For IT savvy people it's fairly easy, but probably not so much for the average John Doe.
NOTE: This method does NOT reset your phone to factory defaults. No data or settings will be lost whatsoever, if you do it correctly and as long as you upgrade, not downgrade.
Step 1: Enable USB debugging on your phone and connect it to your computer using USB cable
From a Home screen, navigate: Apps Apps icon > Settings > Developer options.
Note If Developer options isn't available, navigate: Apps > Settings > About phone then tap Build number 7 times.
Ensure that the Developer options switch (located in the upper-right) is turned on On switch.
Tap USB debugging to turn on or off.
If prompted "Allow USB debugging?", tap OK to confirm.
Step 2: Go to the link below and select your device on the right, then download the last image in the list:
https://developers.google.com/android/ota
for Nexus 6 (Motorola - nickname shamu) it's this 900MB image:https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/shamu-ota-n6f27c-8b9f07d1.zip
Step 3: Download "SDK Platform tools" herehttps://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip
for other platforms than Windows, seehttps://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools.html )
Step 4: Use this link to determine how to reboot your phone into recovery mode:https://source.android.com/source/running#booting-into-fastboot-mode
make sure you're holding the buttons even after the phone starts rebooting
Step 5: I'm just going to copy and paste the rest of instructions fromhttps://developers.google.com/android/ota
...then select the Recovery option from the bootloader menu. The device is now in recovery mode and an Android logo with red exclamation mark should appear on screen.
Hold the Power button and press Volume Up once, and a menu will appear. Select the option Apply update from ADB.
Run the following command (from command prompt on your computer):
adb devices
and check that your device shows up with "sideload" next to its name.
Run the following command:
adb sideload ota_file.zip
where ota_file.zip is the name of the file you have downloaded and verified.
Once the update finishes, reboot the phone by choosing Reboot system now.
I hope this helps at least someone. Finally my phone doesn't vibrate during phone calls. And i tested it for the alleged speakerphone issue that some claimed to have with version 7.1 and I do not seem to experience it with 7.1.1.
Cheers!

OMG seriously, vibrating in your ear while on the phone? Oh and btw, the caller on the other end can also hear the vibration so it is no way discrete. "More computing power than the first spaceship to the moon".. Uh huh. Can it stop vibrating when I receive notifications while on a call... Only if you know how to download APK's and run it in developer mode. It's getting harder and harder to explain why I am still using android.

Still having this issue on Motorola Moto G 4. Very loud vibration notifications during phone calls, the caller I am speaking to also hears them. I don't want to disable vibration notifications all of the time, just while I am using the phone.

New Moto G5 Plus with the same problem. Never had a phone that did this before. Every phone either went into full DND mode while on a call or at most had a very mild beep for incoming text messages, etc. that the person on the other line could never hear. Had several people already ask what that sound was due to vibrate and/or loud audio notification during phone calls.
ca...@gataki.co.uk <ca...@gataki.co.uk> #52
Is anyone actually trying to fix this fault? It's obviously still a problem for a lot of people but the status is marked as "fixed".
za...@gmail.com <za...@gmail.com> #53
Hi everybody, this really stupid issue is still there and we have to blame Google for poorly engineering this. Android is getting worst on every release. For now I'm brilliantly solving the issue this way:
1. From the Play Store download Automate (You can find it here:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.llamalab.automate )
2. Save attached file (named "dnd and bt on call.flo") on your phone. This is an Automate flow.
3. Open Automate, go to menu (upper right corner) and choose "Import"
4. Go to where you saved the file at step 2 and import it
Run the flow.
What this flow does?
It simply enable Do Not Disturb every time you receive (or make) a call and then restores the Do Not Disturb status that was before the call. This way, if you enabled DnD by yourself, it will not be turned off on every call.
The flow have exactly the same behavior with bluetooth so you can connect a BT headset or your car hands-free kit without having to enable bluetooth manually. I use it because I'm often on driving. Obviously it can be removed. If someone needs it to be removed let me know I will provide a flow without BT enabler/disabler.
It works perfectly
Hope this helps.

Wow the flow really helps, however I need it without Bluetooth on. I tried uninstalling Bluetooth network option but it breaks the flow and doesn't work. Can you please share it without Bluetooth option.
Google may be introduced a workaround for this in Nougat 7.1 but not all manufacturers have updates their roms, Honor 8 hasn't gotten an update yet.

Thank you za... @gmail.com . I didn't receive an email notifications regarding this comment. I've used the flow and it works. However, I'm getting an issue where it doesn't mute an incoming call (only outgoing) and keeps the phone on mute after the call has incoming call has ended. This happened after some Honor 8 specific UI update I believe.
I don't think this is the appropriate forum for it. Where can I ask this? thought you might know of a solution. Till that time, I'm back to square one. Annoying as hell.

You're welcome, ni...@gmail.com.
The problem seems to be related to Emui. With my P9 I had the same issue: sometime the flow loses some event and this causes a misbehavior.
I managed to reduce this risk with a new flow and now I have much less problems. The flow is the one attached to this message ;)
Let me know if this works for you.

@bd...@gmail.com If you mean the Automate flow shared by the amazing za...@gmail.com, then ensure you've given the correct permissions (which you seem to have) and also ensure the Automate flow is running in the Automate App (click on the flow to see it running or not). Also, the Automate app should be set to start with the phone. Check Automate settings for these answers.
