The product specialist team is working on the issue to port in number to Dialogflow CX Phone Gateway from other integration partners like Twilio separately.
for implementation so that the users can choose area code. There is a possibility this may come as a paid feature specially for the 800 numbers.
There is another feature request the product specialist team is considering so that the users can choose area code. There is a possibility this may come as a paid feature specially for the 800 numbers. This can be tracked here [1].
While the feature requests are worked on the product specialist team has decided to gray out the area code option from the Dialogflow CX Console so that it does not create confusion to the users.
There is no ETA at the moment. The product specialist team will provide periodic updates here.

Allow customers to port phone numbers to CX Phone Gateway.

It will allow the users to port in numbers from other integration partners (ie. Teilio) in case they would like to use it directly with Dialogflow CX Phone gateway instead of integration.

- Alternative solution is to use integration. Some users experienced issues with latency so they preferred to use Phone Gateway instead using the previously used number but at present no such way to port in numbers from other integration providers like Twilio.

The users can integrate [1] other providers with Diaglogflow CX as an alternative at the moment until the feature request is worked on.
