Apologies for delay in addressing this, it ended up in a big list of redesign-related issues.
The search widget isn't actually part of the site we control (you'll find it's the same on several Google owned properties), I agree it's not great so I've raised it with the internal team.
I'll close this issue as we can't address it ourselves, but it's helpful to show this is being noticed externally.

Touchscreen continues to work normally as usual
What actually happened?
Randomly the touchscreen will stop working but will sometimes randomly still work for things like scrolling or other actions sometimes the app you're using will continue to work (very rare) but you won't be able to exit it or open the quick settings menu (where you can turn on/off wifi and stuff) sometimes locking and unlocking multiple times will solve sometimes waiting will solve sometimes rebooting will solve sometimes nothing works except waiting like 10 minutes

The phone and apps don't lag it just feels like it randomly selects the input that it allows to pass through. It's not hardware as it randomly fixes itself and breaks itself at random times.
I note that hardware buttons still continue to work: volume, open power options menu with volume up + power, force shutdown by holding volume up + power and the assistant (gemini) is fully functional by holding power and can open/close apps etc.
