I found a work around for this bug by setting the zoom of panorama to 1 after creating the marker:
pano.setZoom(1);
So we don't need to rely on users to perform an action.

I face the similar problem, but need to fullscreen or F12 to show the marker or the marker will missing (firefox) or just show black screen (chrome). After the marker is shown, I also found the click event cannot be triggered in street view. Any comment is appreciated.

I can't toggle the OEM Unlocking option either.
Expected output:
The OEM Unlocking option should be colorized and touching it should move the slider from left to right.
Current output:
OEM Unlocking is grayed out. Touching it does nothing, not even an animation indicating it has been touched.

This would be useless in this situation. I've attached a screenshot for clarity.

@lu..., So sorry to hear that. You will just need to do another RMA, clearly Google isn't moving fast enough on this. Google will just have to pay the price on shipping here. You should push for compensation at this point.
This is an age old problem at this point for a fortune 500 company. One arm or division of Google does not talk to the other or at any realistic speed.
There is 3 layers of tech support where I think two of the layers are third parties. The highest level of support is via chat/email.
Then you have Google communities, no response there. This is just a free form of support from random Google users.
Then you have this bug tracking tool, which has gone nowhere and that's because of I have no idea. I think maybe it's because the people who manage the issues are not the same people who actually fix the problems.
And as soon as someone finds out it's not their issue (AOSP team), it might as well just die right there on the spot, because responsibilities and red tape?
So who's responsible is it to fix this issue? The warehouse manager at HTC?
How does this actually get escalated?

Any why would Google sell phones which are made for a specific carrier in areas where that Carrier is not available?
sa...@gmail.com <sa...@gmail.com> #44
That wouldn't be a bad assumption. The only confirmed bootloader unlockable
Pixels are the ones bought directly from Google stores. If you bought a
Kinda Blue Pixel from a local 3rd party shop, you shouldn't expect it to be
bootloader unlockable. On top of that, you won't be able to RMA it with
Google.

This is the *only* way Google is selling phones here. Not only that, they have also ensured a year of support on this. Based on your reply, I understand that you are not expected to buy Pixel phones outside USA/Canada. And can you point me to a document which states what you are saying. I ask this because I presume the company would have informed these clauses earlier(all Kinda Blue phones are bootloader locked) and we would not be providing any support for that problem whatsoever.

You don't have to take my word for it.
Google technically isn't selling phones made for specific carriers in areas
where that carrier isn't available. Those phones being sold by 3rd party
stores are carrier unlocked so you could use it with whatever carrier you
want. It's just that they have the same bootloader as Verizon Pixels do.

sa..., I see your confusion. The Google Pixel 2 is SIM unlocked AND bootloader unlockable (except if you have the above bug). The Verizon Pixel 2 is SIM unlocked (actually all Verizon postpaid phones MUST be SIM unlocked per C band FCC agreement). The Verizon Pixel 2 is NOT bootloader unlockable.
SIM unlocked is also called carrier unlocked. Most people who understand the benefits of bootloader unlocking, understand the difference between the two "locks".
Perhaps you are having trouble with your SIM card and carrier in India? That's an entirely different issue. Perhaps the Pixel 2 does not have all the radio bands for your carrier or your APN is not set correctly.

I will also note that the Verizon version can be found cheaper online both used and new, because Verizon offers discounts on the phone. Resale value is also much lower because it can't be bootloader unlocked. Take a look at resale values on the Pixel 1 on Swappa, unlocked vs. Verizon.
Perhapa the exchange rate was favorable too? Also, if you really value having an unlocked bootloader, then return your phone or sell it and buy the Google version.
There is a small chance someone will find a vulnerability that allows for bootloader unlocking the Verizon version. This happened on the Pixel 1, but it was short lived.

So my IMEI specifically says NON-VZW on the verizon website,I'm not sure if that means my phone is still a Verizon 2 Pixel. What I think has happened is that they made Kinda Blue model specifically for Verizon in the US and shipped the same elsewhere. And I could have bought the phone cheaper elsewhere but I specifically bought it from the "most reliable" and sort of Google Assured place. I need to find out where to buy a Google version now. I mod ROMs . The only purpose of this phone for me is to have an unlocked bootloader.
ch...@cotehome.com <ch...@cotehome.com> #52
sa..., Actually I think that's actually a good thing if it's says NON-VZW. Maybe do some more research on what non-us version exists. I didn't think they are making an international version.
I would actually lean more towards you being effected by this bug/warehousing/staging issue.
Your problem is just like everyone else as a fix doesn't sound like it's in the works anytime soon. BUT, getting a new version from Google is not a sure fire fix either!

Just curious what security update everyone is on? I just got a Pixel 2 from the Google store and mine is greyed out as well and stuck on Sept 2017 Security Patch. Same day I received an RMA replacement Pixel 2 XL from Verizon and it is OEM unlockable! Very strange but not complaining cuz this replacement 2 XL has a much better screen than my original and OEM unlocked. The Pixel 2 XL is on November Security Patch. Somebody must be messin with the boxes and getting them all mixed up! Or its software related and can be fixed.

Google support claimed that I selected the "Verizon SIM" when I ordered the Pixel 2 from the google store. I'm quite sure I did not select that option, nevertheless, I requested and received an RMA for a refund. I ordered another Pixel 2 from the google store, selected "unlocked" and verified with google support that the order was indeed for an UNLOCKED pixel 2. They confirmed that it would be unlocked. I received it in the mail today, did not put in a SIM card, skipped all the prompts for setup. Only entered in my wifi password (did not set up google account) went directly to settings, unlocked developer options, and OEM unlocking is greyed out.

Mine did not ship early like a lot of people have reported. In fact, I ordered on Oct. 4, was supposed to ship on Nov 13, but didn't ship until Nov 15 and arrived on Nov 17.
Google Store support and operations is some of the worst I've dealt with. The first line support agents don't seem to know anything about anything. My belief that Google hired only the best is apparently completely off base.

The point of flipping the "Allow OEM unlock" switch is to 'fastboot oem unlock' which will wipe data anyway so you have to setup the phone again.
Restore from cloud works really well and will restore all your settings so it takes no time to setup the phone back to the previous state.

@ts...@google.com, Can you provide some more detail about this bug and the fix? Was this a inventory issue or a bug in AOSP that only effected the Pixel 2 Mini?
Also, most people do NOT setup their phones first when they know they are being unlocked in fastboot. So people effected by this bug NEEDED a working phone so they set it all up, just to have it factory reset and setup again with the fix. So the wait was an inconvenience and having to factory reset was another on their only working phone.
Also it's fastboot flashing unlock now :) fastboot oem unlock was the old command for Nexus devices.

#119 -- I've just found the same issue, with a fresh replacement device from an RMA. Here's the sequence for me -- I'm on the November patchlevel.
1) Boot a fresh phone, skip setup, etc. Enable developer options, then mash 'enable OEM unlocking'. Confirm and hit 'enable'.
2) Just for laughs, reboot the device. Go to developer options. Note that 'enable OEM unlocking' is still checked. (This step does not change the outcome. You can skip it or not.)
3) Reboot into the bootloader, by holding power, selecting 'restart', and holding vol-down.
4) 'fastboot flashing unlock' Get the messages:
joshua@bruges:~/phone/pixel2$ ~/phone/platform-tools/fastboot flashing unlock
...
FAILED (remote: Flashing Unlock is not allowed
)
finished. total time: 0.002s
4) Reboot into the OS. Go to the developer menu. "OEM unlock" is greyed out, with "connect to the internet or contact your carrier". Argh!
5) Factory reset and do it all over again...
I've tried this with multiple factory resets, and the issue persists. I have been connecting to the network on initial boot each time.
***
I did an experiment to see exactly what conditions cause OEM unlocking to be greyed out, and what changes when I do.
Here's a little more detail. I just updated to 8.1, factory resetted, and connected to the network as I went, etcetera. I unlocked the developer options, and now 'OEM unlocking' is blue (checked). When I do an 'adb shell getprop | grep oem', I see:
joshua@bruges:~/phone/pixel2$ adb shell getprop | grep oem
[init.svc.oemlock_bridge]: [running]
[init.svc.oemlock_hal]: [running]
[ro.oem_unlock.pst]: [/dev/block/platform/soc/1da4000.ufshc/by-name/misc]
[ro.oem_unlock.pst_offset]: [6144]
[ro.oem_unlock_supported]: [1]
[sys.oem_unlock_allowed]: [0]
I'll uncheck it, while doing a logcat, and when I do that, I get:
[...]
12-09 11:42:38.595 747 747 E /vendor/bin/hw/android.hardware.oemlock@1.0-service: Parse: Incorrect message command
12-09 11:42:38.596 747 747 I /vendor/bin/hw/android.hardware.oemlock@1.0-service: Running OemLock::setOemUnlockAllowedByDevice: 0
12-09 11:42:38.597 1125 3962 I OemLock : Updated device allows OEM lock state to: false
12-09 11:42:38.598 1125 3962 I OemLock : Update OEM Unlock bit in pst partition to false
[...]
No change in the properties after doing that. I'll power the device all the way down, now, and power it back up. In the developer options menu, 'OEM unlocking' is still unchecked. No change in the 'getprop' output. Powering the device all the way down, and powering it back up while holding voldown, I do a 'fastboot getvar all', and see:
joshua@bruges:~/phone/pixel2$ ~/phone/platform-tools/fastboot getvar all 2>&1 | grep 'secure\|lock\|cid'
(bootloader) have_oem_lock_id:yes
(bootloader) logical-block-size:0x1000
(bootloader) erase-block-size:0x1000000
(bootloader) unlocked:no
(bootloader) cid:00000000
(bootloader) secure:yes
Reboot into the system, and 'OEM unlocking' is still unchecked. Reboot into the bootloader again, and this time try to unlock (which we expect to fail, for of course it is not unlock-enabled):
joshua@bruges:~/phone/pixel2$ ~/phone/platform-tools/fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability
...
(bootloader) get_unlock_ability: 0
OKAY [ 0.001s]
finished. total time: 0.001s
joshua@bruges:~/phone/pixel2$ ~/phone/platform-tools/fastboot flashing unlock
...
FAILED (remote: Flashing Unlock is not allowed
)
finished. total time: 0.002s
But this time, 'OEM unlocking' is greyed out, with the 'contact your carrier' message! No change in the 'getprop' output, no change in the 'getvar' output.
***
I tried two more experiments. First, I did a factory reset from recovery, then did a 'flashing unlock', then ran through initial setup, skipping wifi. "OEM unlock" was greyed out.
Then, I did another factory reset, did a 'flashing unlock', and then ran through initial setup again, this time with wifi turned on. 'OEM unlock' was not greyed out, and was set to 'off' (as I had left it from the previous experiment). I flipped it to on, then tried to unlock, and the mystery gets weirder:
joshua@bruges:~/phone/pixel2$ ~/phone/platform-tools/fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability
...
(bootloader) get_unlock_ability: 1
OKAY [ 0.000s]
finished. total time: 0.000s
joshua@bruges:~/phone/pixel2$ ~/phone/platform-tools/fastboot flashing unlock
...
FAILED (remote: Flashing Unlock is not allowed
)
finished. total time: 0.002s
joshua@bruges:~/phone/pixel2$ ~/phone/platform-tools/fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability
...
(bootloader) get_unlock_ability: 1
OKAY [ 0.000s]
finished. total time: 0.000s
The box is greyed out in developer settings. When I reboot, 'get_unlock_ability' is still 1, but 'Flashing Unlock is not allowed'. And for bonus bizarre points:
joshua@bruges:~/phone/pixel2$ ~/phone/platform-tools/fastboot flashing unlock_critical
...
FAILED (remote: Device already : unlocked!)
finished. total time: 0.000s
joshua@bruges:~/phone/pixel2$ ~/phone/platform-tools/fastboot flashing unlock
...
FAILED (remote: Flashing Unlock is not allowed
)
finished. total time: 0.001s
But I cannot 'fastboot flash bootloader', even though we are 'unlock_critical'.
***
I have the device sitting on my coffee table here in Mountain View, and I can drop it by this week if you want it. But otherwise, I'll need to send it back to the Google Store to RMA it (...again...) soon.

I did an experiment to see exactly what conditions cause OEM unlocking to be greyed out, and what changes when I do.
Here's a little more detail. I just updated to 8.1, factory resetted, and connected to the network as I went, etcetera. I unlocked the developer options, and now 'OEM unlocking' is blue (checked). When I do an 'adb shell getprop | grep oem', I see:
joshua@bruges:~/phone/pixel2$ adb shell getprop | grep oem
[init.svc.oemlock_bridge]: [running]
[init.svc.oemlock_hal]: [running]
[ro.oem_unlock.pst]: [/dev/block/platform/soc/1da4000.ufshc/by-name/misc]
[ro.oem_unlock.pst_offset]: [6144]
[ro.oem_unlock_supported]: [1]
[sys.oem_unlock_allowed]: [0]
I'll uncheck it, while doing a logcat, and when I do that, I get:
[...]
12-09 11:42:38.595 747 747 E /vendor/bin/hw/android.hardware.oemlock@1.0-service: Parse: Incorrect message command
12-09 11:42:38.596 747 747 I /vendor/bin/hw/android.hardware.oemlock@1.0-service: Running OemLock::setOemUnlockAllowedByDevice: 0
OKAY [ 0.001s]
finished. total time: 0.001s
joshua@bruges:~/phone/pixel2$ ~/phone/platform-tools/fastboot flashing unlock
...
FAILED (remote: Flashing Unlock is not allowed
)
finished. total time: 0.002s
OKAY [ 0.000s]
finished. total time: 0.000s
joshua@bruges:~/phone/pixel2$ ~/phone/platform-tools/fastboot flashing unlock
...
FAILED (remote: Flashing Unlock is not allowed
)
finished. total time: 0.002s
joshua@bruges:~/phone/pixel2$ ~/phone/platform-tools/fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability
...
(bootloader) get_unlock_ability: 1
OKAY [ 0.000s]
finished. total time: 0.000s
The box is greyed out in developer settings. When I reboot, 'get_unlock_ability' is still 1, but 'Flashing Unlock is not allowed'. And for bonus bizarre points:
joshua@bruges:~/phone/pixel2$ ~/phone/platform-tools/fastboot flashing unlock_critical
...
FAILED (remote: Device already : unlocked!)
finished. total time: 0.000s
joshua@bruges:~/phone/pixel2$ ~/phone/platform-tools/fastboot flashing unlock
...
FAILED (remote: Flashing Unlock is not allowed
)
finished. total time: 0.001s
But I cannot 'fastboot flash bootloader', even though we are 'unlock_critical'.

I have the device sitting on my coffee table here in Mountain View, and I can drop it by this week if you want it. But otherwise, I'll need to send it back to the Google Store to RMA it (...again...) soon.

#139 I'm experiencing the same behavior as you. Only thing I'll add is that running fastboot flashing lock_critical while in this state will actually unlock the bootloader, lol.
Apparently the issues persist. I'm on 8.1 and this is on a Pixel 2 I just received today.

FWIW, I sent back my (returned-RMAed) device (phone #2); the one that I got

#142 Not exactly.
I WAS able to unlock the bootloader by issuing the counter-intuitive lock_critical command, but there are still two problems that I have no resolution for:
1) My device always thinks that it has achieved unlock_critical regardless of any setting/state. If I turn off the ability to unlock via the bootloader (via the "OEM unlocking" switch) and verify that get_unlock_ability = false and sys.oem_unlock_allowed = 0, I can always run a fastboot flashing lock_critical to toggle between unlocked/locked. Running fastboot flashing unlock_critical always returns the same result (Device already : unlocked!) regardless of the state of the bootloader (locked/unlocked) or the OEM unlocking switch.
2) Running fastboot flashing unlock always returns "Flashing Unlock is not allowed" despite the fact that get_unlock_ability = true and sys.oem_unlock_allowed = 1
There's still either a bug or defective devices out there, and I'm not sure whether to RMA or simply return the device and move on to something else. These "quirks" are a bit more numerous than I'm comfortable with for a flagship device.

#142 Did you unlocked on 8.1 latest update ? December patch or November patch ? I think its bug with bootloader version 66.00 !
eb...@gmail.com <eb...@gmail.com> #145
#144 Yes, the behavior I described is what I found on the 8.1 official release. When my device was on the 8.0 November patch I experienced exactly what #139 did. It could be a bug, but if so then there was/is a problem with both releases, not just the latest.
I'm leaning more towards this being a defect in a number of devices, but Google support is giving me a bit of a runaround at this point and hasn't sent me a new device (despite the fact that this one is 3 days old) so I can't confirm. #139 ended up saying he resolved his issue with yet another new device, so that seems to support this.

I also had this problem, exactly as #152 described, and fought with it for hours.
What fixed it for me was, instead of trying to unlock it with fastboot, I did issued the command "fastboot flashing lock_critical" ( I know, I know ). The popup about UNLOCKING appeared, and when I confirmed, I got the device correctly unlocked and phone erased.
I guess that's some weird software bug Google will fix soon.

I'm not very technical - please keep this in mind with my query below.
I have a Pixel 2 which overnight stopped working - my guess is that it rebooted due to an automated software update.
I now only get the page with the robot on it's back.
Options in green on this page are Barcodes, Power Off, and Start.
After reading a lot online I've tried all the usual key press combinations to no avail.
I've also downloaded ADB and FASTBOOT to my Mac.
ADB doesn't see the phone when plugged in via USB (ie. ADB DEVICES doesn't return anything)
FASTBOOT DEVICES does, however, show the serial number as listed on the page with the robot on it's back (and the -l option adds "usb:" plus an 8 digit number and the letter "X"
FASTBOOT REBOOT restarts the phone and brings me back to the robot on it's back page.
Other information on the Robot on it's back page include -
Product Revision: walleye MP1
Boot-slot: b
Console: DISABLED
Secure Boot: yes (PRODUCTION)
Device State: locked
Advice online suggests I need to unlock the phone, so I've tried FASTBOOT FLASHING UNLOCK, and FASTBOOT OEM UNLOCK but neither work.
When I try these I get "FAILED (remote: Flashing Unlock is not allowed)"
An article on Android Police (which led me here) suggests this may have been a bug on the Pixel 2 originally and that it's now resolved.
https://www.androidpolice.com/2017/11/21/google-fixes-disabled-bootloader-unlock-pixel-2-phones/
Unfortunately, my cat 22 situation seems to be that I need to do a factory reset, but the steps I've found as to how to do a factory reset all lead back to the Robot on it's back page, so I can't see how to move forward to with recovering my phone?
Can anyone help please?
Really frustrated that my new phone can put itself into this state without me having done anything and that it's seemingly impossible to recover from this state now that it's in it.
Thanks in advance.

Same problem, received three separate replacement phones via RMA process, all had same problem. It's been over a month since I returned my first phone - the original Unlocked version purchased from Google, and now they are dragging their feet because I demanded a new phone, it's been escalated as of a week bago, but I still don't have an answer. I've called 5 or 6 times and I've sent 16 emails. This is a nightmare - a $900 cellphone that dies in less than a year, and then 3 sub-standard replacements. Amazon values their customers and puts their needs first; Google should follow their example. I'll never buy another Google product after this experience be and I will tell anyone that's willing to listen to do the same.

The supposed "Factory reset" fix does not work. Sure it un-greys the OEM unlock slider. But the fastboot command fails. Both 'fastboot oem unlock' and fastboot flashing unlock'..... fail. I reported the problem and Support sent me another replacement (of course I still had to host the $700 authorization on my bank card and the first Auth hold had not even been lifted yet. So 1400 dollars in authorization holds yet I still have the wrong and/or broken google pixel2.
Furthermore I have learned by using command "fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability" that my phone reports "1" as the boolean. This indicates that the phone's firmware 'thinks' that it should be unlockable. I have tried factory resetting this phone a dozen or more times.
Another interesting note:
After using command "fastboot oem device-info"
The phone responds that "Unlocked = false" however it says
"Unlock_critical = true"
Even though it says that, flashing is not allowed. I have even tried issuing command "fastboot flashing lock_critical" to see if that would do anything but neither lock_critical or unlock_critical are recognizable commands on this phone.
I am very unhappy and I think google should send me a Brand New device!
Please.

3rd RMA'd device and can't unlock. Original phone can't take pictures when it thinks it has bad reception. Currently have two $700 holds on my credit card, and now after being on the phone for 52 mins, I'm told I have passed their allowed time for waiting for a supervisor and that I should expect a call back sometime in the future. This is ProjectFi support. How do i talk to someone who understands what the issue is?

fli...@gmail.com, They have a fix for the cell crashing the camera, but I don't think it's released yet. Put your phone in airplane mode before you take a picture OR turn off mobile upload from Google Photos.
You might be better off keeping your old phone and waiting for the fix.

Can NOT OEM unlock slider in Dev Options Pixel 2 xl ! any solving here?
je...@gmail.com <je...@gmail.com> #179
Just received my warranty replacement Pixel 2, and OEM unlocking is greyed out. It's only ever had an AT&T SIM in it and IMEI shows non-VZW.
ma...@gmail.com <ma...@gmail.com> #180
I guess it was right to declare this issue fixed as what remains is not a software problem. The un-unlockable warranty replacement problem is Google's contractor in charge of refurbs purposefully locking all non-Verizon Pixel 2s. Google either consents to this policy of the contractor, or it is in fact Google's policy. Either way, customer service is ignorant to it as people have received 5 or 6 warranty replacements, all exhibiting the same problem. I will never buy another Google product as the only reason I bought this phone was to have a flagship with an unlocked bootloader I could use for the next 5+ years--something I had until the warranty replacement. This one may as well be a locked down Verizon phone.

They ended up sending me a brand new device to resolve this. No troubleshooting done beyond the tier 1 folks. I did get questioned in a sort of accusing way about why I wanted the option. I simply told them I wanted the same features/device that I originally purchased.
ma...@gmail.com <ma...@gmail.com> #186
What capacity/color is the new Pixel 2 they sent you? Google customer service have told many of us since last year that no new black 128GBs remain. I'm surprised they have new ones of any sort in stock at this point--perhaps they lied to us before, though.

Also seeing same problem here on Black Pixel 2 64 GB. I was forced by Google Support to get a second RMA device, which of course also doesn't work. Grey slider. They are "investigating" my bug report which is bogus since this ticket is over a year old. Need a fully functional device.

ma...@gmail.com <ma...@gmail.com> #193
No answer has been posted because this isn't a development issue. However, this is, unfortunately, the most appropriate, 'official' place in which we can gather.
My warranty is not being honored: My defective Pixel 2 was replaced with a deliberately sabotaged device. I bought this phone primarily because it was unlockable.
The problem is Google's vendor handling refurbs. They seem to have calculated that they would have to field fewer repeat returns from the same users if they ensured it wasn't possible to brick the warranty replacement refurbs with bad flashes, thus they are un-unlockable. Google's warranty contains no such caveat and is simply false in its guarantee.
Though it isn't a problem with the OS, perhaps a clever developer could find a way around it. I don't know of any devs on XDA who have looked into it--just lots of screwed over people like us whining there.
I'm beginning to wonder if there's a fuse we don't know about that the RMA vendor deliberately blows when preparing refurbs, rendering the phones not unlockable. That's something Google would know about considering they largely designed the phone.

Add me to the list of users that Google is trying to intentionally screw over with not allowing the bootloader to be unlocked on a refurbished 128gb where the original phone was purchased directly from them specifically for the ability to do so.

I love Google. Google has been one of their best achievements. Really want to try out the Google fi network... Google is more of a software company and should have no business is trying out hardware as they totally suck at it. Their representatives are so clueless. This is the first phone I own were I can't unlock the bootloader. Fine... Send me a version that can be unlocked, they won't do that either as the replacement is still going to be a Verizon variant.... So annoying. I found this out and requested my original phone be sent back, but that too was a problem. I was told be the representative that once a defective phone is sent in, it's lost.. my anger is on a "GOKU" LEVEL right now... Google phones for this reason fucking suck.... Hard lesson learnt. If u must use a Google phone, by it directly online, FROM GOOGLE STORE or else you will be fucked over... On behalf poor service rendered, I say sorry to everyone facing this issue... I am looking at mi black shark helo phone (gamer). Throwing my Google pixel 2 XL to craglist as scrap when the refurbished arrives.
ma...@gmail.com <ma...@gmail.com> #196
#195, this isn't about Verizon phones. We have NON-Verizon warranty replacements because we bought our original phones directly from Google, and our replacements are not unlockable like our original devices were. Our devices were not replaced with a device "in kind" with unlockable bootloader, thus our warranties have not been honored. Looking up IMEI on Verizon's site will confirm if a phone is 'non-VZW' or a Verizon phone, and all of the people I know with this problem have received non-VZW devices as replacements, except locked.
as...@gmail.com <as...@gmail.com> #197
Another one for the list, I had a Pixel 2 purchased at full cost for a Fi plan that was perfectly unlockable. I used device replacement for a broken screen, and the refurb replacement has this problem. I called and received an RMA with the same issue, tried multiple factory resets and all the other troubleshooting in this thread with no luck. After my last call to support, I received an email asking for further details and a bug report - I sent that off 10 days ago with screenshots of the cmd prompt showing "get_unlock_ability: 1" and a failed "fastboot flashing unlock." I never received a reply. I don't think Google is interested in fixing this one. At every turn I confirmed that I understood there was no support expected for running the unlock procedure, but I had purchased the hardware specifically because it was possible. I've owned about 10 android devices going back to the original Samsung Galaxy - this is the first one I haven't been able to unlock. Hoping for a bit of success after an update or two, but since this and all other related threads are incorrectly marked fixed, that's probably overly optimistic.

Anyone think we can get a class action suite here? I got my Pixel 2 in June of 2018 and my USB port is now loose. In December I got a RMA, same issue. The RMA cannot be unlocked. I sent in bug reports and after 4 weeks of fighting (and a failed attempt at getting a refund) I was sent a 2nd one. That RMA came today, still cannot unlock the bootloader. Like others have said, Google is not able to honor it's warranty and replace our devices with an identical functioning device. Oh cherry on the top was I sent back the original RMA device, it took them 2 weeks to even say they got it, and I was charged $800 for it, even-though tracking confirmed they received it 2 weeks prior. They refunded that after I complained but I find it crazy they claim the "value" of the RMA is $750 plus tax. Like if that was the case why not buy a new Pixel 4? They sure as hell wont refund me the "full value" of the device they cannot seem to properly replace...man this has really made me not like google. I have been a fan of google for a while but this experience is shitty for sure.

Me too.I cannot unlock my Pixel 2 that bought at Google Store.
It was possible to unlock the OEM lock at the time of purchase, but now it is not possible, so it seems to be a software problem.

Anyone think this "problem" (and it IS a BS problem IMHO) is like Apple products? Every time someone jailbreaks an iPhone or iPad they (Apple) comes out with an update just to "fix" the "vulnerability." Google is probably doing the same thing. I'm on android 10 build QP1A.191005.007.A1 and there is ANOTHER "Security Update" fixing critical bugs.
My issue is that we all paid $$$$, many, many $$$$$, for a computer that happens to have a cell phone on board! Why can't we gain access to root on our computers?

If your Pixel 2 was ever sent for repairs, HTC hard locks the bootloader. This actually isn't anything to do with Google. This is how HTC operates. I don't know why, or have any other information, but if the device was ever sent in for repairs, then there is nothing you can do.

I wanted to try some google magic so bought this device "second-hand". Unfortunately verizon-variant so seems to be not unlockable. Feels bad,but the worst was ota update from 10 to 11,now battery drains much faster with few sudden restarts, and because of verizon i can't even roll back. I thought google product should be great, and also moddable as Nexus was. Now,reading this topic,i am sad enough and quite sure i'd never buy any google phone in future.

the developer tools.
Please describe the problem in detail. Be sure to include:
- Steps to reproduce the problem (including sample code if appropriate).
- What happened.
- What you think the correct behavior should be.
Don't forget to mention which version of Android you're using, and/or which
device the problem appears on (model and Android version).
Please also run "adb bugreport" and archive the output.
There seems to be a bug of sorts in thw Pixel 2 or OPD1.170816.010 for the Pixel 2 where you can NOT use the sldier for OEM unlocking which will allow the bootloader to be unlocked in Fastboot.
I purchased two Pixel 2's one of them did not work, the other did unlock.
I would like to add I am fairly experienced with Nexus/Pixel and bootloader unlocking. The process has changed in recent years where the gatekeeper is now within the build (developer options). Regardless, I tried everything:
Different SIMs:
AT&T active AND inactive SIMs.
Verizon active SIM.
Three factory resets.
Two factory resets from recovery.
Skipping the setup wizard.
Using FIOS wifi only without a SIM.
Using Verizon hotspot from another phone. without a SIM.
Factory OTA image with a factory reset via recovery and ADB sideload. walleye-ota-opd1.170816.010-768eb7b1 hash 768EB7B1141DB97BE5C8E5118935C19178E5A12DEFE862C86DFD6DC0EB468F31 256
4 people are reporting issues from this thread:
I am getting an advanced replacement sent, but this is a big issue for people who are purchasing these phones with the expectation you can bootloader unlock them.
I opened a Case ID [4-6937000019885] prior to the RMA replacment. I did submit a bug report.
I did purchase a "unlocked" version directly from the Google Play store. It did not come with a SIM. This is not a Version model. This is for the HTC model (NO-XL).
