Handset has recently had a screen replacement under insurance cover. Finger print sensor did work normally after the repair and prior to A14 update.
I have also seen on threads and reddit that others have not experienced this issue with the sensor.

1. When unlocking handset, when using apps with bio metric features eg banking and setting up finger prints
What did you expect to happen?
Handset to unlock normally as prior to Android 14
What actually happened?
Apps revert to PIN
