Same problem still persists:
The clickable area is not customisable for any custom marker added to the map. In my case I have a lot of clustering and a lot of small markers. The user clicks on the center area of some tightly clustered markers for example, but ( due to overlap of the clickable area ) another marker receives the click event, which is really bad for UX.
